Quick and Easy Homemade Tomato Sauce

Today we are making a basic tomato sauce recipe. For us Italian-Americans this a starting point of many meals for us.

First we brown the onion in olive oil. Once the onion has cooked for a few minutes we add garlic, we don't add the onion and garlic at the same time since the onion needs to cook longer and we don't want to burn our garlic.

Once the onion and garlic are nice and golden brown we add our crushed tomatoes. Add in a little water, that will cook down and thicken up as the sauce cooks. Then we add in some dried spices. Simmer on a medium heat 20 to 30 minutes and your ready to go!

We hope you try this and enjoy it in your own home! Also please watch our video for more tips and to see how fun it is to cook! Our written recipe is below the video.
