Thanksgiving Pies

With Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season coming, we start thinking

about the desserts and treats we are going to indulge in.


Some favorites for Thanksgiving are Apple Pie and Pumpkin Pie. In this video Joe and John share their tips and tricks to make some delicious and easy pies for your Thanksgiving celebration. Also, there is a guest star to check out!

Apple Pie

Ingredients:

1 box pie crusts, room temperature

6 apples, cored, sliced

1 Tbsp of lemon juice

3/4 cup sugar

2 Tbsp flour

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp nutmeg

egg wash ( 1 egg mixed with 2 Tbsp water)

Directions:

1. Roll crust into pie pan, brush inside edges with egg wash

2. In a large bowl mix together apple slices, lemon juice, sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg

3. Pour apple slices into prepared crust

4. Roll second crust on top of apple filling

5. Pinch edges of top pie crust down

6. Vent top pie crust

7. Cover pie crust edges to prevent over browning

8. Cook in over 15 minutes at 425°F, then lower heat to 350°F for 45 minutes

*Remove crust cover at 30 minutes cooked


Pumpkin Pie

Ingredients:

pumpkin puree

pie crust

1 12oz can evaporated milk

2 eggs

3/4 cup sugar

1 Tbsp pumpkin pie spice

Directions:

1. Roll crust into pie pan

2. In large bowl mix pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, evaporated milk, sugar, and eggs with whisk

3. Pour pumpkin pie filling into prepared crust

4. Cover pie crust edges to prevent over browning

5. Cook in over 15 minutes at 425°F, then lower heat to 350°F for 45 minutes

*Remove crust cover at 30 minutes cooked
