Have you ever had something like this before? This is our own version of the TEXAS RED BURGER. It's cornbread, burger, and chili topped with cheddar cheese. It's amazing! We found this gem at Pine Country Restaurant in Williams, Arizona. It's more or less 3 hours drive from us and we can't just drive there anytime we are craving it so here's a JBrosCooking version. Enjoy!
TEXAS RED BURGER
Ingredients:
Cornbread
J Bros Chili (https://www.jbroscooking.com/post/4-bean-chili) or favorite canned chili
1 lb. 80/20 Ground Beef
Shredded Cheddar
Salt and Pepper to taste
Cornbread Ingredients:
1 cup Yellow Cornmeal
1 cup All-Purpose Flour
2/3 cup Granulated Sugar
1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Black Pepper
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Onion Powder
1 tbsp Baking Powder
1 Stick Melted Butter
1 Large Egg
1 cup Milk
Directions:
Grease a 9 inch round cake pan. Preheat oven to 400°F.
In a mixing bowl add cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and all spices. Whisk to combine well.
Add butter, milk, and egg to dry ingredients. Mix just until it comes together with only a few lumps remaining.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown.
While cornbread is cooking, form 3 hamburger patties from 1 pound of ground beef. Season patties with salt and pepper.
Heat grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook burgers 3-5 minutes per side or until it reaches internal temperature of 165°F.
Assemble Texas Red Burger: place cornbread on plate first, next place burger on top of cornbread, top with chili and finish with shredded cheddar.
