Swedish Meatballs
Meatball Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork
1/4 cup parsley minced
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp onion powder
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
2 tsp granulated garlic
3/4 cup panko bread crumbs
2 eggs
2 tbsp olive oil
Gravy Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup flour
4 cups beef broth
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1/2 lemon, juiced
1/4 tsp ground allspice
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1 cup heavy cream
Directions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, mix beef, pork, parsley, allspice, nutmeg, onion powder, salt, pepper,
garlic, bread crumbs, and eggs until well combined.
2. Using a tablespoon measure out meat into roughly 2 inch balls.
3. In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add half the meatballs and cook until
browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove, set aside and cook the other half of the
meatballs.
Remove all 4. meatballs from pan and pour out all excess grease. Lower to medium heat and add
butter to pan. Once butter is melted, sprinkle in flour and cook for 1 minute, then slowly add
beef broth; a little at a time.
5. Whisk the gravy until the broth is all combined. Add salt, pepper, allspice, nutmeg, and lemon
juice; stir to combine and slowly start to add heavy cream.
6. Once gravy comes to a light simmer, add the meatballs back into the pan. Simmer until the
gravy has thickened up and the meatballs are cooked all the way through.
7. Serve warm over buttered egg noodles.
