Regular french toast is already an irresistibly delicious breakfast meal, but what if we turn regular bread into banana bread? Today’s recipe is a new way to level up your breakfast with a sweet and healthy meal. Not only that but it is also paired with a banana cue, a Filipino street food that is made of bananas covered in melted brown sugar. This meal set is enough to give you enough energy for the day.
Ingredients:
Oil for frying
2-3 bananas, peeled and sliced
1 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 cup milk, half and half, coconut milk, or almond milk
1 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Banana bread slices (https://www.jbroscooking.com/post/banana-bread)
Butter
Directions:
For Banana Cue:
Grease the pan with enough oil for frying. Turn the heat to medium-low and gradually add the brown sugar.
Put in the bananas and gently stir until the melted sugar covers the bananas entirely.
Let cool and set aside.
For the French Toast:
Mix milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and eggs in a medium mixing bowl. Whisk until it is completely mixed.
Grease the pan with butter and heat to medium-high. Meanwhile, dip the banana bread into the milk mixture before toasting it in the pan. Cook until golden brown, 3 to 4 minutes per side.
Drizzle with maple syrup. Add butter, whipped cream, or other garnish such as fruits.
Serve together with the banana cue. Enjoy!
